With celebrities and artists such as Shawty Lo, DJ Khaled, and Flavor Flav rockin Kashi’s, its no mystery that Kashi Kicks has been synonymous with the hip-hop
and urban cultures since its inception in 2006. It was only a matter of time until these unique styles were embraced by artists in other genres who are trying to make a statement.
In a complete 360 degree spin from what Kashi is known for, the kicks can now be found being endorsed by two bands in the “hardcore” or “heavy metal” culture of music. This trend was started in early 2008 when hardcore band Those Who Fear (
www.myspace.com/thosewhofear) picked up the brand and started promoting Kashi in cities all over the country while on tour.
The name Kashi quickly began to gain momentum as a result of the efforts of Those Who Fear, and
in a more recent collaboration, Kashi Kicks has begun to work with a band from Minneapolis called Venia (
www.myspace.com/veniamusic).
Both Those Who Fear and Venia make a very strong statement with the types of music that they create, so it comes as no surprise that they would want to rep something as bold and elaborate as the Kashi Kicks styles.
